Am I right in thinking this is an export edition Silmarillion?

Ahh, that's a nice little find then. Was just buying what I thought was a bog standard Silmarillion.

It's not that simple.

You need to look at the Feanor and Ulmo errors. Look at the binding. Look at the top edge, look at headbands, the jacket price. These features will help shape one's thinking on whether the "export" tag is really applicable. I personally think the term is borderline meaningless, if it's being used in the sense that most are using i.e. priority of printing.

Ahh thanks Khamul. Have followed your guide and it seems its a later variant. No dyed head and fixed errors. No price on dustjacket.

I came across a Jemima Catlin Hobbit (US non-deluxe hardcover) 11th printing “Printed in Europe” unlike my 4th printing which is “Printed in China.” Not sure if it will hold together better, but it seemed nicer in many ways.

Interesting, thanks for noting that! I have a seventh impression which is also printed in China. I will try to keep an eye out for a newer impression as well.

Some recent acquisitions:

- the 2013 clothbound/waterstones set. I had pretty much made my peace with not getting this set because i'm not a huge fan of it and the prices are usually way out there. Found this one for $ 150 so had to pick it up.
- the 1997 illustrated hobbit, first printing. Only had a 4th printing of this one.
- C. S. Lewis; a Biography (Michael Tolkiens copy).
- Farmer Giles of Ham, large print edition 1975
- The Great Tales never end
- The Lord of the rings illustrated edition 1991, first printing. I already have this one, but it's well-loved and this one cost me $20
- The Lord of the Rings, 1971 hardback first printing

- The hobbit deluxe 2004, L.E.G.O. /first printing. Cost me $30.
- New issue of Angerthas, extra fun because i have an article in it.
- Pamela Chandler postcard set. Not really new, but rather rediscovered. Found it when i opened a calendar i hadn't looked at since the TORN oscar party after RotK in Hollywood. Found some other memorabilia from that party also as i opened a box of Tolkien stuff that was packed away in disgust after that movie. Was great seeing some of that stuff again actually.
- Edward Brothers reprint of 'The Devil's Coach-Horses '. Thank you so much for this Mauro!
- 1994 Tolkien calendar in mailing envelope. An annoying hole in my calendar collection fixed.
- The Silmarillion poster collection from 1998.

Nice acquisitions northman! It is always great to fill a few holes (and you have me jealous as one or two of those are for holes I have been keeping an eye out for. ?)
