The Deluxe release date has changed on Amazon and Blackwells to the 29th September 2022.
Amazon also have some images from the book.

I have done a comparison of the illustrations in the 2003 edition and the upcoming 2022 edition.
There are 50 illustrations in the 2003 edition and 54 in the 2022 edition, however quite a few are different, and I show this in the Google Spreadsheet linked below.

Thanks for this Trotter. I was fortunate enough to find the 2003 illustrated edition only about a year ago. Luckily nice and cheap. But I have decided to only buy the deluxe edition of the latest. I’ll look forward to comparing them ?
Is it possible there won't be a US version of this? I didn't see mention of one at the top of this conversation, and Amazon US doesn't mention it (they aren't always on the ball with this things, however, so I am hopeful).
This has been a "back burner" item of mine for years, and a new edition would provide a nice excuse to jump in.

WM has no plans to produce a US Edition at this time, however you can easily get the HC edition shipped to you through Blackwells, Book Depository, etc...
The US rights (actually the primary ones, that HarperCollins sub-license from) are with Random House through the Ballantine connection. There are no plans for an illustrated edition here in the USA that I am aware of, but whatever updates Robert made (or approved) for the text should be in the US edition as well.
Be sure to come to our free livestream on Saturday, where Robert and Ted will be meeting each other for the first time! ?

How much overlap is there between the illustration selection in this edition and in the recent Silmarillion illustrated edition?
