Well this looks beautiful!
Also this is going to do nothing but ignite more speculation that HarperCollins will release individual HoMe volumes in a style that matches the current "matte" dustjackets (as this fits in perfectly with those).

Other than a revised HoME (which we know won't happen), this is the only way I would octuple-dip the History of Middle-earth. Full wrap-around John Howe artwork and I am in

Now, you're talking!
onthetrail : thank you. Indeed it looks much larger. I still bet that we will have a thinner paper than usual for this one. Just my 2cents.
I also would be in for new HoME matching current style with wrap around John Howe's covers With regular deluxe counterparts matching the colours of the 1st UK edition

I'd assume you are correct since the current/initial one-volume editions paper is thinner than the current stuff used NoMe (and the others in that matte dust-jacket style released since 2020).
I'm kind of surprised HC didn't option to go the 2 book route again but must have been more work to get the revised/expanded material from the one-volume split vs. what they anticipate in sales. So go the reissue route, using all the previous items except the dustjacket.
Edit: Yes! to Regular Deluxe editions with color matching the 1st UK editions! Wallet be damned.
This is going to be under the same ISBN as the previous single volume I assume? That will be a right mess.
Yes, same ISBN

Thanks Mr. Underhill.
Hopefully most retailers sell their existing stock before the March release date or you're right it'll be a potential disaster/nightmare for international buyers looking for the new dust jacket.onthetrail wrote:

Amazon.ca has a listing with this picture for the Deluxe version -- which is nice to see, since the Amazon.co.uk listing got a lot of it's info removed when the information on the re-issue trade came out.
ISBN-10: 0008601402
ISBN-13: 978-0008601409
Edit: Amazon.co.uk page has been updated as well
