Does anyone know if there have been different states of "the tolkien library" box? Everytime I see these up for sale, they are either dark green or pale olive. It doesn't look like fading (all sides match colour).

Never heard of any variants of TTL. These are of the same era of the 1st UK S and 1st UK UT that are more prone to fading do to the environment the book was kept in, so same era same materials could be the culprit here.
