13th print of TTT here, for $150. Someone here might be looking for this, priced at $150. I went through the trouble of emailing the bookseller for a photo.
Curious if someone here won this, and if they will share additional details when it arrives! Looks (from the listing) to be unbound GA&U sheets of The Silmarillion, from Houghton Mifflin files.

Any experts here? Is ROTK a 1st print?
Would love an explanation from someone here on why this set sold so high. 1st print ROTK is worth only like $1000. The books are overall not in the best condition. Bid war?

In general i'd say there is a bit of a frenzy going on regarding LOTR first edition sets of various printings. I think new collectors can get sets for reasonable prices with more patience.

There’s a literal FINE 3,5,1 set on abebooks listed for $5700. I actually emailed the bookseller and they said they would part with it for 4k. Still too high, but in my mind if I’m dropping $2.5k on an acceptable set I might as well drop an extra 1k on a fine set. Haha

A poor condition Hompen also went (again on Tradera) for c. $340.
