I saw that. Absurd if someone buys it, but I bet it's gonna happen!

It is not 'absurd' if someone buys it, but very expensive and probably put at this price to entice someone to make an offer.
On my end there is no offer button, but I guess they can always shoot them a PM and have them assign an offer that way.

Hobbits have been rising in value for several years now, so this asking price is nothing new. However the notion that it is "absurd" if someone pays the asking price is completely wrong, absurd means illogical or inappropriate, there's nothing illogical about the market. The market commands what it will and these Hobbits are popular and sought after. As Trotter says, book dealers will often post a high price in order to entice negotiation, but if someone is willing to pay it better for the dealer. I myself wouldn't pay that asking price, but I would never call someone absurd for buying the book they want even if they overpaid IMO.

Is it interesting? How so? And if so, why post in the “Wonders of” thread? Or are you asking us?

Sorry it's late and that last post was pretty sparse. Could you tell me about this? I tried searching about it on tolkienguide listings but didn't find much.

It is the first Polish edition of the Lord of the Rings. Rebound. (Originally issued in softcover format).

From remy's description it should be this set, though still not sure why this is in Wonders?

I imagine the bulging issue with the box are caused by a non-matching set of books, which are the wrong size for the box.

They ruined a good listing with that wrong Hobbit...and the box by the looks of it.

The LOTR paperbacks are also mismatched, one is the Unicorn edition, which is the correct edition for this set according to Berelach's site.

Yes, and as this is a Canadian boxset the books that came with the box should have the printed price in $CD on their covers. None of these appear to, reasonable to assume all books don't belong to the box.
