That really is a bargain, despite fading. How many of those were printed, do we know?
I havent found any information on printnumber except speculation. I did write Jemima and asked if she knew, but she didnt know. She actually contacted HC and asked them herself but she didnt get any number from them.
Interesting post by Mark Faith…a 7th impression A&U FOTR that appears to be shorter than typical…maybe trimmed?
2nds, 3rds and 7ths (but not all 7ths) were printed ~22.2 cm height. All other printings are ~22.8cm including at least one batch of the 7ths. I've seen 7th DJs in both smaller and larger sizes.

Thanks Berelach. I did not know that 7ths had size differences. (Btw, I looked at Tolkienbooks.net, and the 7ths were bound in 3 batches by Purnell…I assumed they would have all been the same size…guess not ?)

I put this little chart together years ago but never finished checking on enough copies to feel satisfied... if anyone's interested here's what I was able to piece together, not perfect by any means, but was fun to work on...
So one wonders (or I wonder) why then a batch of 7ths from Purnell had a size difference compared to other Purnell 7ths and with the other Fellowship impressions (excluding the 2nd and 3rd.)
