So exciting! I note that this edition will be hardcover, does that specification indicate a softcover edition next year perhaps?
I'm assuming this is likely related to this Amazon US listing: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0358 ... collsguid-20&linkCode=osi

This listing was discussed before, https://www.tolkienguide.com/modules/n ... ewtopic.php?post_id=47373, and could well be the listing for the US version of the book.
Hopefully this will be clarified in the near future.
Amazon UK have not listed it as yet but a Kindle version has been listed on Amazon Germany. Glad that there will be a new eBook edition that matches.

What do you think they will do about the numbering of the letters?
I think they will be renumbered in chronological order to match the way they are printed in the book.

I don't know if our gambling license is up to date I have a 'fiver' on it being that the original letters will remain as numbered with the newer letters following directly on numerically but inserted at the right point in the book.

Yes and then perhaps a “( )” next to an original letter indicting within the parentheses the number previously assigned in the 1981 printing. Or (and?) a cross-reference table added.
