I'll be using this thread to note new features as they are added to our Guide to Tolkien's Letters. Comments, feedback and new feature requests are of course always welcome!
The Guide is actively updating regularly with new letters being added from various sources. As the new letter additions can be hard to discover in such a large index, I've added a search function that will return results in the order they have been added to this Guide (most recent first), in addition to the default "letter chronological order".
order:added
You can look at the entire Guide this way, e.g. https://www.tolkienguide.com/guide/letters/?q=order:added to see what we've been working on, but you can also add this function to any search - helpful if you've been working on something and want to see if any recent letters added are related to prior searches.

Very impressive, keep up the great work!
I suppose I could just try it out myself, but out of curiosity; when creating a discussion on a specific Letter, does this also insert a link to the forum thread into the Letter entry itself? That way visitors can see all the discussions about a specific letter without having to do a search on the forum.
Also, if you see any searches for things like "; DROP TABLE Letters", don't worry; it's just me trying to help by testing for SQL injection vulnerabilities.

The "Start Discussion" button at the top of the letter is replaced with a "View Discussion" button as soon as the conversation starts, so you can jump straight to it. Also the first post in the discussion thread on a letter should have a link back to the letter itself at the top of it, so if you find an interesting discussion you can quickly jump to the letter itself from there.

? I do significant testing myself of course but it is impossible for me to test for things I don't think of. I also have daily offsite backups of everything so if something breaks I should be able to recover. ?

That makes perfect sense, well done!

If you have a question on a letter that is not included/can't find it, where should I post these?
You can use the Contact Us (https://www.tolkienguide.com/contact) that is on the letters guide front page, that will reach the MODS, or you can ask here also and one of us can get an entry done. If you need help right away feel free to PM me and I will get the entry added right away. I am home so have my books and files close.
