I wonder if HC have missed a trick here... Commissioning some new illustrations to put into the HoME volumes would have been excellent.
This is such great news. I've long been hoping (like many others) for HoME hardcovers with John's DJ art.
As Velmeran noted, the artwork on the spine of UT looks like it's from "Ulmo, Lord of the Waters", which appeared on UT covers in the 90s.
For the Silmarillion, however, it looks like they won't be going with "The Fall of Gondolin" again, but have instead opted for "The Siege of Gondolin", i.e. the one also used on the box (and previously for the map of Beleriand). It's a little hard to see, but I think I recognize part of a dragon head and a Balrog hand on the spine from the left side of John's painting. (Gondolin on the box is from the right side of the painting.)

I also noted this earlier on Reddit for the Silmarillion cover and played a little with it. It's definitely that image. A stunning one too. I'm really looking forward to seeing these on the shelf with the other matte covers.NoUse wrote:

Harpercollins have free postage also. And with 40% Discount Code - would be £60
Using topcashback.co.uk for a further 15% cashback will bring cost to £51
For Europeans especially, https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/00086 ... lexibrium-21&linkCode=osi €71.80. Incredible price.
