The bust was a gift from my wife. Sometimes, usually late in the evening when I am perusing my collection, she will ask me, "who are you talking to?"
"Just your bust, dear."
For the wellbeing of mere mortals (read: those with limited budgets and/or space) here's my collection. My aim is :
- a single copy of all primary works (my definition is Tolkien Estate releases) in a book form
- secondary works will be built up slowly on similar criteria but are less of interest to me
- hardcover unless silly money
- first edition is a bonus not a requirement
- in new or decent condition
- with a dustwrapper which I cover in a book protector
- to be actually read on a regular basis
I will be buying the new letters book, Mr Bliss and The Road Goes Ever On which for now (I think) makes primary works complete. I will be buying the new box sets and selling my print on demand HOME books as they emerge. I will end up with duplicate Silmarillion and Unfinished Tales but the repagination will justify this and the illustrations are beautiful in the current versions.

Yes indeed, really nice to see. Interesting too to understand how people collect and with what criteria ("A man got to have a code")
As all journeys, no matter how short or long, start with a single step, all collections begin with a single volume. A collection becomes a collection as soon as a second volume joins the first.
