It’ll be neat to see what aspects of Christopher’s career gets covered. As we all know, he solely didn’t work on The Legendarium.
I look forward to following this board in the coming year 🍻

I have caved and ordered through Awesome Books. Got the box set and the new Letters for £85. Have given up on Amazon and HC for Tolkien books as they do not pack with any care and the delicate matt covers are always damaged on arrival. I think I'll be selling my POD full set in due course, probably bit by bit as they are released.
My latest purchase was the last straw.

I was in an english bookshop in Paris, I tried to choose a decent copy among the 10 copies of the new Letters from father Christmas trade edition they were displaying. All having some damage to the jacket...
I bought one from a local bookshop in the end at full RRP but in pristine condition, now protected in a dustwrapper protector.
It's lovely.

Interesting question. Will they emulate the colours of previous individual volumes or make the boards all one color across the series?Amon Rudh wrote:
I wonder what colour the boards will be on the box set volumes.
My POD are all black but I'd prefer colours matching the original style covers. Too late now as I presume they are printed. I hope the illustrated side is out on the packaged books as this will make it easier to cover the wrappers with protectors. I usually store the box somewhere safe as I find them annoying.
Am I correct in thinking that CT was not in favour of resetting HoME due to the risk of errors being introduced, and that (and the original plates being lost) is why the editions following the original hardbacks have been photo-offset reproductions of the latter?
Can I then presume the same holds true for these? I feel as if they would have mentioned otherwise in the promotional material if something had changed. (Not that it makes any great difference to me, I am very much looking forward to these editions either way).
