Thank you ALL very much!
Will need to see images to give a true evaluation, but sounds like it’s in pretty poor condition. Sounds like it’s ex library as well, which is a drawback for some. With book collecting it’s all about condition.
The 2nd printing had a run of 2500 copies, so not as much as the 1st but more than 3rd printings. But it does still have portions of the jacket which is a plus…

Thank you Mr. Underhill, my understanding is the 2nd impression had a smaller run than 1st and 3rd?

Obviously the 1st print will command a higher price regardless of print run numbers for the most part.
If the book was in really good condition with a fine dust-jacket, you may be looking at around USD 2,000 - 3,000, the bulk of this is really for the dust-jacket, with a poor dust-jacket this will reduce significantly.
You then take other items into account, are all the items still in the book (the maps as an example)?, is the book damaged?, is it ex-library?, all of these also contribute to what you may be able to sell the book for.
Without seeing any photos and based on your description, I think you are probably 10% of the price above, and you may struggle to get much interest even at that price.
Good luck if you decide to sell.

Agree here, a fine UK FOTR 2nd print would command a price in the thousand(s) of dollars range in this craz...er...competitive market. However the key word there is FINE.
