What do people think of this?

I don't like it, the JRR looks off to me.

I am still learning on Tolkien's sigs (especially in books) but this one looked spot on as Tolkien's hand to me.

Very well could be, it's really the lack of provenance that scares me.

Certainly a concern, the BBC reference is either very clever, or correct. Tolkien was interviewed at BBC's Oxford studio at the end of July, (not exactly the end of 1962 though) but he did visit the BBC in London on 10 December when he was interviewed by John Bowen.

Good catch. Could be true then...could be.

I don't put as much faith in signatures on cheap reprints...easy for a forger to practice on basically valueless books until they get it right!
