Does Awesome Books take payment when the preorder is placed or at dispatch time?
When I have pre-ordered from them they have taken payment at the time of preorder. I’ve never canceled a preorder from them so I don’t know what their policy is regarding cancelations before shipping. I would imagine they’d have to provide a full refund but don’t know.

Awesomebooks does take payment when the order is placed.
I did have some books on pre-order a year or two ago, and when the GBP crashed, Awesomebooks allowed me to cancel my order (issued full refund), and place a new order at the revised price.

Any guesses about the painting we can only partly see on the cover of Fellowship? It looks like it may be a new painting.
I’ve reviewed all of my Alan Lee illustrated copies of the fellowship and the single-volume lord of the rings. Afterwards I checked online as far as I could, and this does in fact look to be a new illustration. I think it’s being partially hidden is also evidence that they’re ‘teasing’ something.
