GANDALF & SHADOWFAX POSTER ORIGINAL ARTWORK

I am Count Dominic Bon de aSousa Pernes finally risen from obscurity & referred to as D de S Pernes amongst other names in your blogs regarding the Vintage LOTR poster set I painted in 1969 / 70.
Letting you know that 2 of my original artworks, Gandalf & Shodowfax, are going to Auction as separate Lots in June with Hanson Ross at Specialist Library Auction - date to be advised. This is the1st & only time these 2 original artworks will be put up for sale since I painted them in 1969 / 1970. TOLKIEN INTEREST. Count Dominic Bon de Sousa Pernes (20th Century). Gandalf [The Hobbit & The Lord of the Rings], original poster design, signed & dated l.r., 1969, watercolour & ink on paper, mounted on board, 72 x 56.5cm, some marks & wear around edges but otherwise well-preserved. Psychedelic Prog Art

Provenance: Consigned by the artist

❧ The original artwork for one of a small series of posters mentioned in Middle Earthworm, [No. 8, March 1970], and Belladonna's Broadsheet, [No. 3, June 1970]. The project was commissioned & published by Jack Drury, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, and was made available via mail order when advertised in magazine supplements, c. 1970, distributed by Instore Marketing Services, London, and also sold in legendary London science fiction bookshop Dark They Were and Golden Eyed until halted by publishers George Allen & Unwin. The vintage printed posters are now prized collectors' items, so this is a rare opportunity to acquire the original artwork - the first time this has been made available on the open market
