Not currently for sale, but have been talking to a guy the last couple of days who will be liquidating his father's collection of thousands of Tolkien Items. *Incredible* stuff in there.
Not often you see one of these

I strongly think he will be well served by a major auction house for some of the things he has. I think it will be one of the most significant Tolkien collections ever to come to market from the little I have seen.

I saw that and nearly fell off my perch, especially after his earlier Fellowship proof. If he has more items like this then it will indeed be a very significant collection.
I sent him a message about coming over here, and others have suggested that too.

Yes, I told him yesterday to come to TCG (in private communication). He has a lot of signed items from Tolkien's library (including English & Medieval Studies). Literally everything he was pulling out was "OK, that's worth a lot". Has Tolkien's academic gown (not sure if it is the one Rick Gekowsi sold or a different one).
I'm glad he is doing his research and canvassing opinions from several parties, so he won't get taken advantage of.

Did you chat with him on videochat? I offered that to him if he feels he needs the help but I think he's got enough help on that front if you are assisting him. I'd love to hear if he's got any letters or publishing documents hiding away in there.

Nah, just on messenger and he showed me some pictures as he was pulling things out.
Hello everyone, so I’m currently in the processing of finding a new home for many of Fathers books and other collectibles that are Tolkien related. I’m in the very early stages of this project and I’m still planning and figuring out what exactly he has. I’d love to have yalls insight and advice on the value of some of these, what to look out for (if you say something specific, there’s a decent chance ill have it). This will be a long and overwhelming process so be patient with me please while I take on this massive project, because when I say worlds biggest, this is not an exaggeration! Not sure how this site works but I’ll attempt to tag a few pics to show you the tip of the ice berg. Thank you and I look forward to hearing from all yall!

Thanks for sharing these pictures (and the brief glances in the background as to the shelves and shelves of other material). Your father must have put a remarkable amount of time and energy into this collection, and had a good eye for unique and important items.
I'll drop you an email if that is easier, but feel free to continue sharing pictures here as I know that for many, this will be the only time we get to see some of these books and materials.

Oh my. These are amazing. The passion and preservation is shining through. I hope I get to look after some of these down the track! Saving already.
I've been chatting with him too. Told him to not go to a book store to sell because they will drastically undervalue the items.
I actually mentioned a kind of crazy but much cooler idea to him: if the rest of collection is as rare and extensive as the items he has found so far are, I suggested to maybe see if an exhibition could be set up, and get a cut of the proceeds, that way many people can experience these once in a lifetime items. Then at the end, he can always sell if he wants to.
