The Marion E. Wade Center at Wheaton College presents “Mythmakers: The Remarkable Fellowship of C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien,” a book talk with award-winning author and illustrator John Hendrix about his new graphic novel on the spiritual friendship of Lewis and Tolkien. The talk will take place on Monday, October 28, 2024 at 7pm and will be followed by book signing.
John Hendrix is a New York Times bestselling author and illustrator. He is the Kenneth E. Hudson Professor of Art and the founding Chair of the MFA in Illustration and Visual Culture program at the Sam Fox School of Design and Visual Arts at Washington University in St. Louis.
John’s books include "The Faithful Spy: Dietrich Bonhoeffer and the Plot to Kill Hitler," called a Best Book of 2018 by NPR, "Drawing Is Magic: Discovering Yourself in a Sketchbook, Miracle Man: The Story of Jesus," and many others.
His work has also appeared in Newsweek, Sports Illustrated, Entertainment Weekly, Rolling Stone, The New Yorker, Esquire, The New York Times, Time Magazine, and National Geographic—and he has drawn book jackets for Scholastic, Random House, Simon & Schuster, Harper Collins, Greenwillow Books, Knopf, Penguin, and Abrams Books.
The Society of Illustrators named John the Distinguished Educator in the Arts for 2024.
