That would be an awesome tool indeed. I'm also trying to catalog my collection. As of now, I have an excel sheet, but I noticed some tools like 'Allmybooks'. However the indexing system is not really satisfying, and the export possibilities a bit limited.

In addition to my databases (where amongst other things i do keep a record of how much i paid) i have started a document that will go with my collection to my daughters. The goal is to describe why i collect tolkien, the various parts of my collection, some items that are the most special to me etc etc. I will probably have this document printed and bound just as a fun thing for them to have.
