How is that ‘not true?’ The last several releases the only difference e had been the publisher logo.
An example: The Lord of the Rings 70th Anniversary Edition or the History of Middle-earth Boxed Sets.
Publisher name aside, how is a WM one different from a HC one?

except for the higher end releases that WM piggybacks on the same printers for.
Counter examples:
- WM is not publishing the HC signature trade paperback History of Middle-earth series.
- WM Revised and Expanded Letters was printed in the USA, in a different format (size of book, paper thickness and quality)
- WM mini-hardcover editions of H, LOTR, Silmarillion have many changes to the HC editions, eg the below

Next year HC in the UK are publishing a paperback edition of The Letters of J.R.R. Tolkien (Revised and Expanded Edition), that does not indicate that WM are publishing the same title, though WM may publish it. They publish different titles and are not just different logos.
From HarperCollins
The HC edition will go up on Amazon et al. this week. The WM one is already up, I see, but will be published a few weeks later to allow for extra shipping time from the printer.
The selection comprises the four ‘Edited by Christopher Tolkien’ volumes, and will match the HOME sets, including reversible jackets.

That’s a smart looking set, will be nice to have Sir Gawain in HB finally with this cover design.
Agreed. I don't like the deluxe for general reading so having a standard hardcover will be a welcome addition. Nice to see HarperCollins continuing this range into academic works.
That wil be a double purchase for me ! (using both sides of the dut jackets, because I could'nt choose which side to display)
That's special to see these four titles with 'HoME' jackets, like if these were published in the 90's.
