Emails from newsletters tend to be sent out in alphabetical order, hence why I received FS's email over an hour after the sale started, and an hour after it sold out. I wasn't buying one so harm done to me, but having a 'W' surname means I get newsletters late on a regular basis.

There is a reason for all those "A1 Plumbing supplies" type names -- got you to be the first in yellow pages when that was a thing.

I think in the case of something like this, anyone waiting for an email was probably going to be out of luck. I had a feeling they would open the site a little early. Even HarperCollins did that back in the Children of Hurin days, which is how I scored #3.

Got the email at 18.05… logged in straight away, only to see 187copies were left! Still thought this gives me plenty of time to complete the transaction… which I did by 18.10.

Once completed there was only 5 copies left ..

I believe this was sold out in 11’ since launch which must be some kind of record.

I was lucky, but still it frustrates me to see how many scalpers are already selling at a premium online…

I do hope to see The Silmarillion and The Great Tales under this series..

Now my problem is I will have a misaligned Edition No between The Hobbit and LOTR… 😬
