Tree and Leaf

Hello,

I have a First American Edition, Second Printing, Tree and Leaf book. The cover, not the dust jacket, is red. I did a google and eBay search and all the books I found have blue covers, no red covers. Catalog card #'s are the same.

Anyone know why this is?

Attached are a few photos. The blue cover is from eBay, 2nd Printing as well.

If I had to guess, the red boards looks very similar to what most libraries do when rebinding. Are there any ex-lib markings in your copy?

Thank you for the welcome and reply, Uruloke!

I do not see any markings. Maybe, if I put it the fire for a bit something may appear? Haha

I think you may be right, though. There is no publisher markings on the spine. I have a Farmer Giles of Ham and has Allen/Unwin.

I attached a few more photos.

Bummer, thought I had a decent rarity.

That looks like a library rebinding, it is unusual to have the dust-jacket though as those were often discarded. If it does not have any markings, then it may have been for a non-lending library, where you could only read the books in the library.

Thank you, Trotter.

I'm glad I noticed this before trying to sell it. My One book to rule them all, only to be re-binded.

This has been a fun lesson to learn!

Thanks y'all
