I know you say variant Mr Underhill, but they’re all the same no? It’s just that the clipped ones were sold outside of the UK only originally, so the £7.95 was removed.

Feel free to add my purchase as well. I paid $1100 US last year, 8/13. NF condition maybe? Fading to the orange on the spine and slight to the O on the front. Fine beyond that. Unclipped and came with two cards stating it was a review copy. Private sale. It was more than I wanted to pay, but I wanted to support the seller as well.

For what it's worth, I had been following the auction in the initial post for some time. He offered a price of $1100, but I passed.

I appreciate everyone chiming in here with data points. Gives me some hope I may be able to get one of these affordably one day. I've been on the lookout and haven't seen anything under $1,000 in two years.

Definitely looks possible, if you are fast, and not as concerned about fine/unclipped. I suggest keeping an eye on Oxfam listings as well, as there does seem to be a copy every year or so listed there.

I've updated my table with additional values (the first two entries are not included on the graph as they are so old). The late Stu is your copy clipped?

I also broke out the unclipped vs. clipped data as helpful to track.

Yep, my copy came from a gentleman in Utah, so is clipped as per the other copies sold in the US (at least the ones I had noted).
