Recently acquired an interesting piece of Hobbit 1987 50th Anniversary ephemera. A slip that you could send in, after purchase of a copy, to have a chance at winning a trip to Disneyland. Never seen this anywhere before. I’m sure Tolkien would’ve loved that 😅

Looks like the bookseller was in Tasmania, so would have been an expensive prize at the time. Back in those days, Tassie was much more of a backwater than today.

JRRTs dislike of Walt obviously had not reached down under at this point

I have recently completed acquiring sets of the various states of one volume Lord of the Rings issued by GA&U, BCA, Nelson, and Guild publishers. Those of you with copies will already know that they are quite flimsy and not really built to last, especially the paperbacks. These are not official "sets" I just wanted to try and put together as many of the cover variations as I could.

Those hardcover BCA LotR are cool! I didn't realize they came in different colors.
