This may also be a clue as to what I think it may be. Full disclosure, HC have not told me anything about it.

That’s certainly a possibility, but the wording says ‘LotR’ to me more than The Hobbit.

I’m ‘expecting’ an edition The Hobbit to ‘match’ the LotR 70th Anniversary Edition to arrive in 2027. (It took a few years between the FS LotR limited edition and the 70th LotR, so I’m expecting likewise with The Hobbit)

I think the fact that HC announces this on TRD as Folio announced their Hobbit on TRD last year says a lot...easy to connect the Hobbit dots.

The teaser definitely sounds more like LotR, but *yet another* LotR this soon would be a hell of a stretch, I think.

The Hobbit seems more likely, given we know that HC has recent form for producing their own edition based off the Folio LE. And the fact that it was two years or so last time doesn't mean it needs to be two years this time.

Their preample includes
This Tolkien Reading Day, we're inviting you to join us at the very start of a brand-new adventure, where we have found ourselves doing something altogether unexpected...
and this is either Hobbit connected, if read literally, or could be HC hinting at a product entirely outside of any current series.

"the very start of a brand new adventure"
This sentence makes think about a whole series of books, and I'm thinking about the already mentioned and rumoured illustrated edition of the Book of Lost Tales.
