Just had to point this one out. I was unaware that such an edition was produced with "a black cloth like material laced with gold." Looks like someone wrapped em up in an old pair of Levis. At least the "books are in very good condition for their age!" Whatever the case, they make me cringe!

I know this has been on this thread before, but Beren I'll offer you 50 pence for the books in the picture, current price on eBay
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/All-Books-J-R-R ... Books&hash=item2561b85c2f
I know that he has no rights to sell the eBooks, but I'd love to believe (in an ideal world, which we don't live in) that eBay could do something about this seller, and I am sure that I'll be very disappointed
Beren's books that I'm sure this eBay seller has no rights to use this image

Oh, it's this rum cove again -
"The work is not supplied with certificate of authenticity and guarantee (as has never been subject to assessment, evaluation expertise) and then, having regard to the recognition and similarity to the stykle of the author, is proposed as a copy of copyright, falsecopyright, in the manner of the author, under Article 8 of the Law of 20 November 1971, n.1062 (Official Gazette No. 318 on December 17)"
bloody hell...

I think the seller is way overpricing this book (US $14,999.99 or £9,283.32 for a UK 2nd Impression Hobbit).
It has been rebound in what looks like a typical UK library binding to me.

Here's an odd one -

I've read this supposed 'quote' before, on the net; but can never find a citation. it's not a Tolkien quote, is it?
