Hello!
While I'm new to this forum, I've "lurked" for some time learning from some great posters! I also recently made an agreement to purchase a MAJOR collecting "grail" from David at The Tolkien Bookshelf--a book from Tolkien's personal library signed by him. Needless to say, I'm pretty excited about it.
I hope it's not inappropriate to post before I have the book in hand, but here is the title page with the signature

I believe it translates to "The History of Latin Christian Literature."
A friend of mine, fluent in French, told me that the book covers the writings of Christian men / authors who wrote in latin (as opposed for example to the Greek streak of Christian writings) so that the focus of the book as can be glimpsed by the open page you show will be on St. Jerome, St. Augustin, etc.
