This is a first impression HardCover of THE SILMARILLION by J. R. R. Tolkien.
This Hardcover is in mint condition. I have been collecting Tolkien for 20 years so I am very careful with my books.
This Copy still has the dust jacket.

I had an appraisal done on this book by PBA GAllery, It is worth between $150 and $380

...shome mishtake, shurely?

Now that I actually read the description (of the auction I flagged), it makes even less sense!

It's claiming it's the "inbetween edition" (presumably referring to the use of the Howe jackets, by HC, on old GA&U stock) --but talks about a full line number being present! GA&U didn't use line numbers, so if one is present, it clearly ain't a GA&U book. And, the jackets went on the old 2nd impressions left over, not (to my knowledge) any first impressions. So, in conclusion, a total muddle of an auction!

I don't think the little books are worth getting too stressed about. They only contain one chapter. I really think HC and HM are big and bad enough to look after themselves.

Isn't this a little bit excessive for a 1979 Pictures. I bought one for GBP50 in VG condition. Is dogfark a member here (if so apologies)
