...in answer to my own question, I went through the process, and while the US is listed as a shipping option, I got a "shipping not available for selected address" message near the end of checkout. I don't know if it was my particular address; I don't live in a remote area.

The HarperCollins sale is only for people with UK addresses. It is possible to use forwarding companies when ordering, but you need to set up an account with them, something like this service. https://www.forward2me.com/
