Super Deluxe meant full leather books, of which four editions have so far been sold, HC made an excellent Lord of the Rings Super Deluxe for contributors to the 50th Anniversary but that was not sold commercially.
Here we have them all together. I hope there will be some more of these real deluxe editions in the future. Would be nice to see a matching set of the three Great Tales in the style of CoH
It`s nice to see them all together, but per definition the LotR 50th Anniversary for contributors is not a SUPER deluxe edition, as it's only quarter bound in leather.
Your correct, if HC releases this for people to purchase, then I would like it to fully bound in leather.

Thanks for that; I will make great use of it.

Amazon Uk has added the picture of the actual book for the standard harback edition.
Oh my that gives me all sorts of book tingles. That book and I will be finding a quiet corner to get to know each other better.
:)
Looks lovely for sure. This picture also tells us that we will have the ribbon marker, so maybe a treatment close to the new LotR Alan Lee's boxset, (meaning heavier and matt paper), instead of the one use for the great tales editions.
Maybe we'll get two inks printing as well !

It certainly looks like it fits well to the new Rings/Lee box. I really do hope we see a Silmarillion in this style. I love Ted's illustrations so I would be more than happy with a reprint of them but in this style.
Completely aside to anything concrete but I would snap up the HoME volumes done like this with those John Howe paperback covers treated to these nice dustjackets. Wouldn't need illustrations to get me to buy them, just those stunning John Howe covers as hardcovers and I would be in.
I thought the new version of UT was going to be made in the same style and size as the Illustrated versions from the early 2000s. Now it seems it will be rather the same size and style as the 2020 hardback set.

I think the standard harbak edition is going to match the Lee 2020 box set.
But the deluxe edition seems to match with the last sketchbooks box set, which is oversized and thus closer to the early 2000's hardback illustrated editions.
