Did you happen to note that you were responding to adam very first post on this site? Not everyone in the world reads this site religiously, though this does indicate a value in creating some FAQ articles that are easy to find [note to self].
And, by the way, a hearty welcome to adam! We will get you sorted, and hopefully get your collection growing. Your questions are welcome here. ?

Not everyone is as involved and in the know 24/7 about book releases as we are here.
You can choose to ignore a comment and move on. It is that simple.
I definitely did not intend for any negativity.
Ever since the '90s (no need to monitor 24/7), it's been this way:
Houghton Mifflin: available in the US. Other countries need to import.
HarperCollins: available in the UK, commonwealth and other publishing regions (parts of Europe maybe??). Other countries need to import.
It is also entirely possible that the new member is new to Tolkien, PERIOD, which is something I didn't consider, and apologize for - for the 'assumption.' It'd be great if what I mentioned above is part of the FAQ, if it isn't already.
Again, sorry for any snarkiness.

I believe adam might also be asking if Houghton Mifflin planned to mirror this edition - which is not clear yet, so it is a good question to ask. I will provide any information as I can, but given that they did not mirror the Unfinished Tales deluxe edition, I think it probable they also will not mirror the Silmarillion deluxe. There could be a standard/trade edition.

That is possible, though we would've seen a listing by now - most likely. It could still happen, though we're a few months away.
On the other hand, Houghton Mifflin may not be doing it because their printings of The Tolkien Illustrated Collection: Version 1 is still entirely in print.
At this time, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt is not planning to release the new edition of The Silmarillion. They do have the 2nd illustrated hardcover edition in print still:

Precisely, and the matching edition of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings (2002 boxed set) are still in print, as well.

I strive to have an intentional, "functional" collection where no books are duplicates. If this series expands to the Great Tales, I might have to convert. That just looks way too cool!
I really hope it doesn't expand into other titles. Having a couple of titles in this format is really nice. If it blows out like the existing Deluxe range, it will just become a dull routine, like those became. I'd like to see HarperCollins trying different things and styles, rather than churning out endless variations of the same theme, largely distinguished by colours. That said, the illustrated slipcases at least means from title to title there has to be a bit more variation.

For the new Silmarillion with the Ted Nasmith art, coming out next March, I have been trying to find it online in the US with no luck - Amazon, Barnes and Noble, etc.
Does anyone know if it’s even going to be available in the US? Any help appreciated...really want to get the deluxe version!
Patience is key, these images dropped today. The Unfinished Tales equivalent isn't particularly hard to get in the US!
Edit: For the sake of being a little more helpful and welcoming, I will say I've seen reasonably priced UT Deluxes on eBay. Many UK sellers on Amazon will ship to the US as well. There may be more official channels I don't know about, but generally I'd recommend not to fret; with persistence and patience, you'll definitely be able to get a copy! Saying this as a fellow American envious of all the UK releases
Mithrandir - Sigh. Frodo gave into the Ring, I probably will, too.
Thank you, I really appreciate the kind reply! I shall be patient!
