This was me. I do put about 99% of the blame on you though Stu for that recent beautiful copy of this set you showed off in the 'recent thread'
Seriously this was a gaping hole in my LotR collection and I've been dismayed by prices i have seen in listings for sets with the books in considerably worse states than this (though those listings did include the slipcase). To give some slight insight into the workings of the mind of a semi-recent collector: I had set my limit at £1300 and i kinda expected this to go for more because of the state of the books (the usual ttt fading aside). The missing slipcase is annoying so I have contacted David Miller about making one for me so it looks nicer on the shelf. This was LOTR #75 for me ... a bit of a jubilee. Unfortunately a bad blow to my 'freeze on buying' that was supposed to last until july.
They look to be in great condition from the pictures. I’m sure you will get a lot of pleasure from these!
