Thanks for noting this one Aelfwine. I bought this one as it is a work that I don't have (and has never been quite enough in my sphere to pay the usual $200+ for a physical copy).

I previously bought two copies myself — one at $14 and one at $15 (since given away) — before the recent astonishing run-up in all things Tolkien, so it was both nice and surprising to see one come up at this price.

I've seen a surprising number of these over the years, actually, given what I assume to have been a relatively small print run. Many of them (including those I previously bought) were further in basically pristine condition. I suspect that there were a fair number of undistributed copies left over from the original issue that eventually were sold off for a pittance, before its Tolkien connection was realized.

I strongly suspect you are right. They have always seemed surprisingly commonly available and tended to sit for a long time unless the price was fairly low (by Tolkien standards). I should have bought one way back - but this one should do nicely, and I don't mind stamps so much on academic materials.
