Hello, everyone. I have listed a few new items on ebay, including a US first printing LotR set. Please take a look. Thanks!
Greetings, All. I'm in a bit of a cash pinch at the moment, so I am accelerating some book sales by venturing into the dreaded eBay waters. I've currently got a couple interesting items, including a nice copy of the OE Exodus, and a 1/1 US Hobbit with original jacket. The Hobbit is a bit worn, but still quite rare with an original jacket in any condition. I'll be adding a couple more items very soon, so please check back. All of my auctions are low start and no reserve, so these will go to the high bid. Please feel free to PM me with any questions or comments you may have. Thanks for looking!

P.S. I'm no code master, so I simply replied to an old thread that Jeremy helped me with that showed my current ebay listings. The current items should show in the original post above.

Thanks for that, Elwe - an interesting pair of lots. I was interested to see that there's a stamped number (202) on the back of the boards of Exodus - hadn't noticed that before.
Garm,
Thanks for the reply. I typically would not draw attention to something like the pressed "202" on the back board because I believe it is a publishers mark and not a condition point. However, I thought it was an interesting bibliographical bit and was hoping to get a little more information about it. Does anyone else's copy have that mark?
Also, I wanted to mention that I know there may be a need for more images, especially on the 1938 Hobbit. I'm not sure how to embed images in my auction description, so I was stuck with the 12 allowed by ebay. I chose to show more images that depict condition, rather than bibliographical points. My estimation was that anyone bidding on the book would know what it was just by the title page. That said, I am happy to provide any requested images to interested buyer via email. Just PM me and we'll go from there. Thanks!

Yes, I have two copies of Exodus and both have that number. Don't know what it means though. I'm afraid I can't afford a Hobbit with wrapper, but I would like to see more photos.
Two!?
Perhaps you could post one to me garm --& I can try &... err... work out what the code means. It might take a while though. In the mean time it will be perfectly safe on my shelves. Don't you worry!

I don't think I'm jeopardising your auction Elwë by saying this --but can this go in the "Wonders" thread?
The Old English Exodus, J.R.R. Tolkien (1981/1982, Hardcover)
Over $300! (--& still running I might add.) Incredible. I blame your immense photography skills!

Honestly, I really don't know.
For a start Elwë has listed really well, as always. Interestingly, when you look at the very first post (from 2011), he had another copy which was (at the time of the post) going for the same price: $305.
It just doesn't come up very often & presumably quite a lot of copies went to libraries. Still, 3000 copies made (one impression) is quite a lot for how infrequently it surfaces. Just another annoying one if you wish to actually read it! Not a book I have, unfortunately.

Yeah, I suppose it can go in 'wonders.' I am also baffled at the price this book commands, but I originally purchased it as an investment, and as of now, I'm still losing money! So I suppose I can't comment too much on what one should pay for this book! As for my copy, this is the only one I have ever had. I tried to sell it once before, but that sale fell through, so I held onto it until now.
Taking good photos is extremely important. As far as auctions go, I always have had the best luck starting it at a low price with no reserve. I think starting things very high is a big turn off to many people. I try to provide a lot of photos and then let the (eBay) market dictate the price.
Thanks for all the interest from TCG!
