Hi, So I was watching a film on Tolkien on youtube and obviously I know the year of his death but then it hit me.....
1973:
3 for the elves, 7 for the Dwarves, 9 for men, 1 for Sauron.
1973 in reverse, I know it's a coincidence but it's pretty near the mark. Thought I'd share that.

I've seen that meme rolling around, yes. I've even seen a couple of papers/books that take this "numerology" to quite the extreme - if you squint hard enough, you can prove anything!!!

I totally agree, I was just surprised it hadn't struck me before, I don't do superstition. :)

Which books please. Surely something from the edge of the leaf litter under the Tolkien Tree.

Ummmm.. I haven't ben collecting or listing these out, so I am a bit rusty. Let me see... The following actually found real publishers and so aren't too far "out there". I'll see if I can find other links to papers etc. but for some I don't want to give "link juice" to if you know what I mean.
