Nice job Olwe! Live interviews are always hard, and the time delay must have been brutal to deal with. ? from me!

Good job.
I'm not sure about "adding to the canon meaningfully". I can't really see how anything not written by Tolkien can really be considered canon.
This series is (authorised) Middle-Earth-inspired fan fiction, as there simply isn't enough detailed material written down for it to be anything else (considering this is a multi-series commitment).

Quite surprising interviewer approach actually. She was really, really trying to get something
negative out of Marcel, wasn't she?

Her questions were quite valid though. This whole thing is essentially fan fiction - it’s ripe for the writers to introduce contemporary themes of diversity, inclusion,
sexuality, gender quality etc. for the sake of appeasing causal audiences, or at least to avoid being vilified for not addressing the problems in Hollywood (or largely, in America).
I’m a person of colour and yet I never felt like Tolkien’s stories were “white” to the point that they made me feel somehow excluded.
Oh well... cautious optimism never hurt. ?
