When visiting Tolkien2019 in Birmingham in August I got in touch with one of the dealers there. He offered a very pretty 1st/1st copy of The Hobbit with facsimile dust wrapper. Back at home I thought over this offer for some time but negotiated at least a reasonable price, that both of us could accept. More than one international collector were interested in it. Because of bad experiences with shipping the dealer didn't want to mail the book outside the UK. I offered to pick it up personally. Yesterday, very early in the morning I took a flight to London, met the dealer and got the book. I spent some more hours in the city waiting for the return flight in the evening. All in all this was an action of just about 24 hours. Back at home I was washed-out and tired, but very happy - have a look on this "preciousss"
The pages look like unread, the cover is very little worn. There is a neat inscription in a child's handwriting - the first owner of this children's book was a little girl..
