Having read the discussions on the thread “The wonders of...” concerning the Tolkien-bubble that we seem to be in, I start to question wether to buy stuff at all right now. I have seen this 1957 9th impression H in fine condition at a bookstore for 250$. Would you consider this outrageous or just what you have to accept right now?
Here are some pics of the 1957 9th. The dust jacket has an unfortunate repaire but other than that I think is is in rather good condition. I was pleasantly surprised to see the name Sten Dahlskog in it. Dahlskog (1930-1990) was a Swedish botanist and a fantasy-SF enthusiast. He wrote several reviews of mainly SF, among others an early review of Ursula K LeGuin. I previously own his old first edition of LOTR. I assume that he bought both The Hobbit and Lotr in 1957. In my Lotr copy he has made notes on the poems. I have unfortunately not discovered if he wrote any reviews of Tolkien.
