This comes under the heading of 'show and tell' -
The 1st ed. 1st imp. Allen & Unwin RK is a bit odd - in the first batch of printing - known as the first state - all of the type on p.49 is straight.

But in the 2nd state, some of the lines of type have slipped - look at 'They answered a summons...' and below that, 'Legolas?'

Not only that - there were two states of the dust wrapper, too - the early state has no newspaper blurbs on the back flap.

Whereas the wrappers printed later in 1955 do have the blurbs

Obviously nothing that is not already known here on this page, but I don't think I've seen photos of these features before
