Size is octavo (8vo), 9.375"/24cm h. Format is stapled chapbook, blue heavystock cover with black illustration (Hunnewell), embellished with gold glitter glued between four figures on front cover. Interior is printed to 8.5 x 11 sheets; yellow endpapers; [1-2], 3-62, [63] unprinted with dried leaf affixed, [64] blank. Sections: 'Before the First Age', 'The First and Second Ages', 'The Third Age', 'The Fourth Age', 'A Biography', 'Bibliographic Notes'. Condition notes: a very good plus copy of a rare work of Tolkien- and Middle Earth-inspired poetry. Signed by both author and illustrator, and further inscribed by Christopher to previous owner, '2 Aug 1993' likely at the Mythopoeic Society's MythCon24, held on the weekend including that date in Minneapolis, MN/USA. Other than signatures/inscriptions, no notes or highlighting. Modest creasing to wrapper; top staple beginning to pull through wrapper but remains intact; both staples show rust. Quite a handsome and inspired work. Christopher is Professor Emeritus of English at Tarleton State University in Texas, and a noted Tolkien/Lewis/Inklings scholar.
