Limited edition (this being #86 of 111), revised and expanded from the 1981 first edition. Illustrated by Sylvia Hunnewell. Size is octavo (8vo), 9.375"/24cm h. Format is stapled chapbook, blue heavystock cover with black illustration (Hunnewell), embellished with gold glitter glued between four figures on front cover. Interior is printed to 8.5 x 11 sheets; yellow endpapers; [1-2], 3-62, [63] unprinted with dried leaf affixed, [64] blank. Sections: 'Before the First Age', 'The First and Second Ages', 'The Third Age', 'The Fourth Age', 'A Biography', 'Bibliographic Notes'. Condition notes: a very good plus copy of a rare work of Tolkien- and Middle Earth-inspired poetry. Other than signatures/inscriptions, no notes or highlighting. Modest creasing to wrapper; top staple beginning to pull through wrapper but remains intact; both staples show rust. Quite a handsome and inspired work. Christopher is Professor Emeritus of English at Tarleton State University in Texas, and a noted Tolkien/Lewis/Inklings scholar.
