How do you tell the difference between these two box-sets of the Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings? Is Ted Smart mentioned on the slipcase or in the books?

From memory (not at home at the moment), "Ted Smart" is printed on the bottom/base of the slipcase.

Thanks I should have checked that

My shrink-wrapped copy has Ted Smart, embarrassingly in rather large writing, on the base of the box-set.

Now to find a non Ted Smart set

Hopefully Deagol will update

As you say, "Ted Smart" is printed on the base of the slipcase. HarperCollins markings are still on the slipcase & on book spines. The copyright pages states "Book People" (etc) at the top. "Ted Smart" doesn't, I don't think, appear printed anywhere on/in the books themselves.

For the unobservant collector(!) and those that cannot bear to remove the shrinkwrap, TolkienBooks [now] says:

'The Book People' appears on the verso of the title page of the books. 'Ted Smart' appears on the title pages of the books and on the base of the slipcase.

Oh, and BTW... books really shouldn't be kept in shrinkwrap, you will suffocate them.

I presume (the first part of) that comment was aimed at me?
(> as "Ted Smart" does appear in the books...)

Actually no, but if you feel that the cap fits...
