Confirmed error is present on my 60th Anniversary Chinese copy (2005 edition, 10th print). Also, confirmed error is not present on my 50th Anniversary LEGO copy (2005 edition, 1st print).
Oh, China.

They're only following in a long tradition of UK/European typesetters...

For the most part, the 60th is more accurate overall. Yes that "Marzabul" one is annoying [I always thought that's how it's spelt anyway...] but it's just on the labelling of the facsimile - not in the text. And, really, you're most likely looking at Tolkien's art itself rather than the caption.
WAAAY back in this thread, they mention that early editions of The Silmarillion deluxe edition had errors, as well, and I'm fairly certain that was Italy.
I imagine The Lord of the Rings will be completely error free, due to Hammond + Scull, as well as interaction from the publica via the net, by the 75th anniversary.
As it stands, the ONLY two (known) errors in my hardback edition of "Fellowship" is "Marazbul" on the facsimile [everyone says it that way anyway...] and no comma in Gandalf's letter to Frodo in Bree ("My dear Frodo").
Overall, the 50th (and 60th) anniversary text editions are most welcome, though 'the dream' is to be completely error free. I think we're about 95% there though :)

Saw this on Reddit. I hadn't really considered that errors would still be getting introduced. I expect the core text is fairly safe and unmucked about with by printers, these days.

I am struggling with a defence on this one, but as a description of an illustration it is not part of the core text, which has safeguards hopefully to stop changes like this happening.
Why it was changed is quite a mystery as it was correct in the first place?
I have informed HarperCollins of the error and hope it is rectified as soon as possible, they have responded and they are aware of the issue and investigating how it happened!
Yeah, I emailed as well when I saw it, but I suspect my emails just get filed to trash, so I should probably just leave it to you...!
