Yeah, Its like that box set of the Hobbit and Lord of the rings from 2013, the prices are like 400 pounds upwards, I think someone like him lists it for stupid money then the next guy assumes that is the worth then he lists it for that and then the next and the next.

Yep, that certainly does happen, but there are also just a few Tolkien eBay sellers that (IMHO) skirt the boundaries of integrity and honesty (and sometimes flat out cross them). When you see the same book sold with a very honest description, resold by a "professional" with a much more selective and optimistic description, it is hard to have much respect for the professionals in this market. There are certainly exceptions to this (some of whom are also members here).

The majority of the spine on the jacket is not original. Based on the photographic evidence, there appear to be parts from 4 different jackets. The chronology of images is quite damning in my opinion. I guess the seller forgets that people might be downloading copies of auctions that raise eyebrows (TCG scrapes the content of any auction that is linked to, FWIW).
