This is the rarest edition of the Lord of the Rings in Italy. In 1970, the publisher Rusconi, printed the first edition of Tolkien's book in hardback with black and white dust jacket with illustrations by the great Italian artist Piero Crida. That edition was intended for bookstores. Rusconi also printed 300 special copies, numbered and with the name of the printed recipient, intended for personalities from the world of politics, culture, journalism and the economy. Up to now, on the collector market, I have seen about 25 copies. Its rarity, and price, is also due in the numbering: the lower the number, the higher the value. I own the copy number 5, given to Mariano Rumor, in those years Head of the Italian Government. During these years, I sold two other copies with the number between 250 and 270. Some information on my blog.
