Someone want to explain to him that a page being bound in upside down does not make it worth more...
I realize this item is clearly and unsurprisingly overpriced, but this description strikes me as rather misleading:
"All our items are rare and our customers would rather them arrive safely, than have free postage. Since EBay rules won’t let us set the real postage and we can only use their fixed rates, some customer may pay slightly more for very light items, but we lose money on heavier or larger ones" (underline added).
You mean rare items like this one:
Or this one:
Unless eBay rules are different for sellers in the UK, I have always been able to set my shipping and handling fees to whatever I want.

Evidently there is a maximum:

But, it is not a fixed fee as the seller claims. Still quite reasonable (it would have to be a really heavy book to exceed those rates I think). You can just put in the weight of the book and eBay will calculate the fair postage for it...

If you are expecting anything that seller states to resemble the truth, you are on a hiding to nothing...
It doesn't get more "awsome" than this: "The spline of the book is perfect along with all the pages. The dust cover is a little messed up as you can see but the book is awsome"
Didn't want to start a whole new thread about this topic, so putting here as reasonable approximation of subject.
Heritage Auctions had a (to me) rather nice piece of concept art for Ralph Bakshi's Lord of the Rings in their March 1 auction, that I was interested in enough to watch, but got very much priced out of what I personally felt worth paying for it.
https://comics.ha.com/itm/animation-ar ... bakshi-c/a/122009-11874.s
It ended up selling for $650 ($780 including Buyer's Premium).
Within hours of the auction ending, it shows up on eBay with a copy of the image and description, and a price tag of $2000 (so they can't even have the art in hand yet!)
I personally think this dealer will have a hard time finding a buyer at the price they need to make a profit on this particular piece (personal opinion only, unique pieces like this really just need to find that one elusive buyer...).
I guess my message is to keep an eye on auction houses, most times they are much better deals than buying at full retail.
