has started a 'print on demand' service for nice hardbacks of various #Tolkien books. They all carry the pub. date '2010' and are £40 from their site.
The seller below wants £220.00, for a book they could buy a copy of every week...

Wow that's a cheeky listing. On one hand I think the seller is scum but then I'd hope that anybody considering such a spend would do their homework first. Listing it is one thing, if someone is stupid enough to buy that then who really needs their head testing here? The seller is just an opportunist, the buyer however shouldn't be trusted to tie their shoe laces.

I'm inclined to bid, just because someone has loved them so hard!

It is a shame they suffered so hard considering somebody loved them. The written additions are sweet. I guess if someone really wanted the text and doesn't mind the damage it would not be such a bad buy.

This edition of The Hobbit has a price clipped dust jacket in fair condition. The book is in good+ condition. Original green cloth boards with dragon illustration and lettering in black. Fading to a section of the spine and corners. The edition is cocked. The end papers are clean and tidy. Light spotting to the front pages and title page and otherwise generally a clean and tidy copy. The price clipped dust jacket has some loss to the lower front and spine edge. Front fold has a tear. Chipping on the top spine end and fold corners. Lightly browned. I love how "dishonest" people always tell you how honest they are. A certain Alan-53 on eBay comes to mind.
