The book arrived today. It will be need to be exchanged as the DJ is damaged. There is also a slight printing error with the paper on page 1, top right where the paper folds and cuts weird so it has a flap. but it is no bother to me personally.
It has a ribbon and is a really nice book. I am very pleased with it (minus damage which is no reflection of the book itself. It matches well with the Hobbit/Rings books. Same error regarding first printing as with the deluxe. This book is also printed in Italy at Rotalito. The coloured chapter titles carry through from the other recent editions with colouring which I really like.
We need The Silmarillion in this style.
I have only included a couple of images inside the book, just for flavour, one illustration and one pencil chapter sketch, there are four sketches, one for each 'part'.
Trotter, Urulókë please remove any images you feel go too far with copyright.

That looks nice, I'm still wondering - even if this edition is not part of the deluxe series - if the Tolkien monogram on the spine will line up with the others.
I imagine that it will line up
Thanks, onthetrail ! Great pictures, and I look forward to receiving my copy! I noticed it is printed in Italy, while The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings have been printed in Slovenia. How does the paper quality compare between Unfinished Tales and the recently release boxset? Thanks again!
I believe I've spotted another error, this one on the list of illustrations: the correct, exact syntax reads "Amon Rûdh" (the accent from the u is missing)

Is UT ever so slightly taller than the Hobbit?

I wondered the same thing. Could be due to the perspective. TT looks somewhat shorter placed next to RoTK?
Would love some confirmation.
Should be the same height, though the dustjacket may give (or take) a mm from book to book. All -well, most - of the HarperCollins Tolkien hardbacks (with exceptions to over-sized ones, that is) are 228/229 mm in height

There is a slight difference in colour. The UT is white and the Hobbit/Rings box is ever so slightly creamier. It really is minimal.

No, they are exactly the same height. They all match exactly.
