Somehow I missed any indication that the Bodleian Tolkien Archivist Catherine McIlwaine had an article published back in February that revealed a new biographical discovery about Tolkien when he returned from war service in 1918.

John Rateliff has written up his response to Catherine's article on his blog and it sounds quite interesting.

Subscribers to Literary Review can read Catherine McIlwaine's article "Tolkien at the Crossroads" online from their website. If you want a paper copy, evidently you can order back issues from mymagazinesub.co.uk which offers worldwide delivery (at a cost). I've ordered myself a copy for £4.50 plus £5 shipping to the USA, and will update when it arrives.
