So that Catlin Hobbit sold for a tidy sum indeed. I wonder what makes it so prized...

Hard to find now. Last couple I saw (Shrinkwrapped) sold for over £300. There was one on a BIN on Ebay for £40 (where seller obviously did not realise what they could get for it).

That seems to be the "normal" price at this stage (for fine copies). Did see a couple of less fine copies sell for a good deal less (but can't remember exact prices).

Unless a wave of these hit the market - it will probably remain relatively "expensive".

Anyone know how many were printed? I know there was only one print run in 2013 but I don't know what the number was...

My understanding is around 2000 copies. As this was not a limited edition, there is always the possibility that another printing could be made in the future, if HC was so inclined, though I have heard nothing that would indicate that they are thinking of this.

Anything that has only gotten one printing - such as the 2013 editions of The Hobbit + The Lord of the Rings in hardback - usually go for quite a bit once they're no longer in print.

What 2013 editions are those we're referring to?

Uruloke, use your pull at HC to get us a 2nd printing!

Assuming you're referring to the HarperCollins Collector's Edition; that had more than one printing.
