The price probably isn't totally crazy (I expect it would benefit from a gentle wipe-down), but £30-40 more would get a decent copy. That's often the nature of rough copies - the pricing is a bit high relative to better copies. We see this on early Hobbits all the time.

I agree that I think a bit of cleaning would go a long way with this one.

But yeah, I was thinking I could snipe this for cheap–nope. One bidder went in early and often, driving up the price for everyone. Shrug

You didn't really miss anything. PoMEs are two-a-penny these days.

Considering I have 11 HoME volumes to read through before I'll feel the "need" for PoME, I'm inclined to agree. And as has been said many times on these forums, the price on this one is trending down. Time is on my side!

Has a bookplate, but these don't come up terribly often and the spine seems relatively unfaded.
